Artists Statement
Making art has become for me a form of moving meditation. Much of my current works are inspired by the Japanese philosophy of the Enso Circle, the formation of a circle- that symbolizes absolute enlightenment, strength, elegance, the universe, and mu (the void). When I create each circle, it is created with one stroke and when all of the circles are placed together, a cohesive image is formed.
Connected to our world, I am inspired by images of cells ,the presence of nature and interpreting time. Each formation has its own identity and form together to create a pleasing, meditative image.
Prior to this set of paintings, in my works on wood, representation of people were based on memories and backgrounds marked by repetitive marks or activity describing time passing.
Concurrently, my illustration tells the story of my beautiful family.
My commission works pairs with other writers’ stories and most recently tells the story of a dog lost in Paris.
